Divine luminosity, the essence of light, is how I experience and connect with the Divine. While my roots are in Anglicanism, my fascination with various religions has led me touncover a universal wisdom that transcends specific belief systems.
The spiritual freedom we seek is not found in clinging to perceived safe spaces, but in remaining open to the ever-changing tapestry of life and the Divine Light within us and others. This openness, often misconstrued as weakness, is our greatest strength. By living authentically in the present moment, we submit to Divine guidance, finding the freedom to see everything as equal and sacred in truth.
Throughout history, light has been a central element in worship. From the sun temples of the Incas to the Japanese reverence for Amaterasu and the Egyptian worship of Ra, light has been a universal symbol of the Divine. The alignment of ancient structures like the pyramids of Giza with celestial events and the design of churches, cathedrals, mosques, synagogues, and temples to harness light all underscore its spiritual significance. My travels have taken me to numerous places of worship, where I immerse myself in the spirituality and light of these sacred spaces. These experiences are deeply emotional, often overwhelming, and always transformative. Whether in a church or cathedral, I light a candle in remembrance of my parents, feeling the presence of God through the play of light and energy.
Driven by my passion for history, architecture, and spiritualism, I have created a series of paintings that capture the emotional essence of these places. Rather than focusing of their architectural perfection, my work delves into the emotional and spiritual atmosphere they evoke. Using oil as my primary medium, with an initial layer of acrylic, I select a color palette that resonates with spiritual energy. The symbolism of the square, a motif common across various religions, is central to these paintings, which I envision as “relics” that encapsulate the high frequency of the Divine.
In each piece, I aim to convey the luminosity that connects us all, a light that transcends physical boundaries and speaks to the soul. This series is a testament to the universal language of light and its power to evoke profound spiritual experiences.
